Ponytail, the simplest of all updos does not have to be the most boring one as well. By using few styling tricks you can turn your ponytail into a fierce hairstyle, which is still easy to do and looks very natural. This instruction is for girls with short hair, who want to make their ponytails longer using clip-in extensions. If you have naturally long hair, skip the part describing how to clip in the extensions.
Section off a 2 inch piece of hair in the front, clip it and pull to the side. Make a high ponytail, the higher the better. Make sure that hair on both sides and under the base of the ponytail stays sleek and free from tangles. Use comb with narrow teeth to soothe the hair. Secure your ponytail with elastic. If you want to add hair extensions take another elastic and tie it in the middle length of the ponytail hair. What you have to do now is to clip the extensions in such way that they cannot be distinguished from your natural hair. Start from clipping the extensions a little above the second elastic and wrap it around to hide the clip. Add next extensions one above the other until you reach the start of the ponytail. To cover the highest clips take a small section of hair from your ponytail and wrap it around the first elastic band, pinning it down with bobby pins.
Move back to the front hair piece, divide it into smaller sections starting from the back. Lift each of these sections up and backcomb it. Pull them to the back and anchor with bobby pins. Take the section above your forehead, tease it and smooth out the front hair. Fold it to the back, place on the scalp and push a little bit forward to create a kind of bump. Pin it with bobby pins and use hairspray to smooth out frizziness and hold the volume. Find more 2012 hairstyles
